Pranab Mukherjee wrote to PM Modi

The late Pranab Mukherjee mentioned these things in his memoir ‘The Presidency Years, 2012-2017’. He wrote this book before his demise last year. In the book published on Tuesday, Pranab Mukherjee wrote, “Whether it was Jawaharlal Nehru or Indira Gandhi, Atal Bihari Vajpayee or Manmohan Singh, all of them made sense of their presence on the table of the House.”

He should use Parliament as a platform to keep his views to convince the opposition and make the country aware.

Pranab Mukherjee said that during the UPA government, he was in constant touch with the opposition National Democratic Alliance (NDA) as well as senior UPA leaders and addressed complex issues. I was present in the House all the time so that if a matter arises, a contentious issue can be resolved.”

Pranab Mukherjee has also targeted the NDA’s 2014-19 tenure in his book. He has termed the NDA as a failure in its primary responsibility to ensure the smooth and proper functioning of Parliament.

However, the opposition is no less responsible. The opposition also showed a non-responsibility attitude,” he said.

Demonetisation not discussed

Former President Pranab Mukherjee additionally wrote that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had not mentioned the problem of demonetization with him earlier than his announcement on November 8, 2016.

Congress leadership fails to recognize

Pranab Mukherjee has also expressed his opinion on the congress debacle in the 2014 elections. He wrote that one of the reasons for the 2014 defeat was that Congress failed to recognize its charismatic leadership.

In his book, he wrote that when the results of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections came, it was difficult to believe that Congress had managed to win only 44 seats. Congress is a national institution that is associated with people’s lives.
